Recently, Shawn Colvin did a version of Willis Alan Ramsey's "Satin Sheets." In her album, Cover Girl, she referred to her roots and influences and recalled Willis' idolized status in Austin, saying, "When I moved to Austin in 1976, everyone owned the one and only record made by Willis Alan Ramsey, and it's a gem from start to finish."

Willis Alan Ramsey is truly a songwriter's songwriter. His album, Willis Alan Ramsey, is a cult classic among a generation of songwriters, and his music has endured. One of his songs, "Muskrat Love," made popular by Captain and Tennille, is at the same time his most popular and his most obscure.
